Summary: I booked a night at O'Reilly's Rainforest Lodge for our 40th wedding anniversary and was slightly disappointed with our overnight stay. We were given the only room in the block that didn't have a car park directly underneath our room which meant we had to leave our car in the day visitors car park about 100 metres away. The room facilities were fine and the bed was comfortable and warm. The dining options were limited to a choice between the dinner buffet for $70 per person or expensive a la carte options from the bar. We chose to have the buffet and it was okay. We attempted a couple of the shorter walks but it had been raining so the walks were slightly muddy and slippery so we returned to the room. The highlight of our stay was the Early Morning Bird Walk with a member of staff as the guide. We saw lots of small birds during the walk and the guide provided lots of information about them. Overall, I thought that the Lodge needs to update some of its iconic features if it wants return patronage.
