A great base for a Brisbane holiday, Brookfield Cottage is superbly located on Royston St, a prestigious ridge road that is one of the best addresses in Brookfield, an inner city acreage suburb just 20 minutes from the city center. And as of December 2019, now with solar and also a brand new Fujitsu Split System reverse cycle air conditioner in the lounge, dining and kitchen area. A new split system reverse cycle Mitsubishi air conditioner was installed in the main bedroom making this entire level of living very comfortable in our hot summer and warm in winter.
Set in private and extensive acreage gardens, Brookfield Cottage is a newly renovated bungalow style house built in the 1960s with 2 bedrooms with one spacious bathroom with separate shower and bath. The ground floor level is the main living area of the house with living, dining and kitchen areas flowing onto the extensive deck The super large main bedroom with a queen sized bed and also single bed and also the second bedroom with a double bed and bathroom are also on this ground level.
Timber floors were newly sanded and polished in July 2016. Quality rugs and artworks are a feature of the house with an open plan kitchen and living area being an effective design. The living and dining rooms open onto an extensive and very wide L shaped high set deck with fabulous rural views. The deck is perfect for relaxed entertaining or just for relaxing with a book. The well appointed living room has a new 50 inch Sony LED 3 D TV and DVD player with an Apple TV with access to the subscriber's NETFLIX and STAN.
The living room has the new Fujitsu Split System air conditioner and overhead fans. The main bedroom has a queen bed and also a single bed suitable for a child. It also has an overhead fan. The main bedroom queen bed has a Cloud Gen 2" down topper for extra comfort. The main bedroom mattress and double bed ensemble are top of the range Sealys just installed early 2016.
Both ground level bedrooms enjoy great views.
The kitchen/ laundry is equipped with a range of new equipment including a Eurovox ceramic cooktop, refrigerator, a new Panasonic microwave and brand new Samsung front loader washing machine and sensor dryer. This is capped off with a new Miele electronic dishwasher, Miele oven and a Nespresso coffee machine. Cooking options are enhanced by the large outdoor barbeque just outside the kitchen on the veranda.
There is ample parking on site for vehicles and trailers and under cover parking for 3 cars. Horses are also accommodated by arrangement. Dogs are welcome on the large contained L shaped veranda upstairs with stairs going down to an undercover area downstairs and a fenced garden area. There is an extensive unfenced garden area as we are on 2.5 acres.
It is just a five minute drive down Rafting Ground Road to Kenmore with its shopping villages, restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques and supermarkets. Express buses run half hourly from Kenmore to the city center. Turn left on Rafting Ground Road and you are soon at the idyllic Brookfield Showground with its General Store and great little brasserie with wood fired pizzas and great coffee and lunches. A little further along is Bundaleer for wedding receptions, so Brookfield Cottage is well located accommodation for wedding guests. The well reviewed Wild Canary at the nearby Brookfield Garden Centre is another excellent choice for brunch or lunch.
A super base to explore Brisbane from with the city just a 20 minute drive away. It is a quiet retreat for country style relaxing. Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and Westfield Shoppingcentre are just a short 10 minute drive away.
