Astra House is a two-story traditional stone building located next to the little square of "Platanos", in the picturesque village of Vrachasi, a few kilometers away from Sissi fishing village, in the Lasithi prefecture. Adorned with stone houses, archways, and traditional courtyards, Vrachasi exudes an old-world charm that harkens back to simpler times.
This traditional house has been fully renovated in 2024 with love and excellent quality finishes by its owner, architect Dina Drakonaki.
The Rooms
Entering the house there is a sunny patio, a lovely courtyard for the main house and the guest house. In the main house, on the ground floor, there is a kitchen, a bathroom and a living room with a wooden beamed ceiling as well as an old wooden set of stairs leading to the first floor. On first floor there is a separated bedroom (double-bedded) with balcony and an open-floor area with a second double bed and access to the veranda. There is an outdoor Jacuzzi (up to three persons) next to the sunny veranda, where guests can relax watching the sun set into the Cretan Sea or the hawks flying above the “Rousso Haraki” mountain. Back to the ground floor, through the patio, there is a separated guesthouse with a double bed and its bathroom. For elderly people or families travelling with rather young children, guesthouse or ground-floor sleeping area would be ideal for them as the staircase to the first floor may be considered steep.
The Location
Vrachasi is located just 7.6 km (7 minutes ride by car) from the seaside village of Sissi and all its amenities, stores, cafes and beaches. In the village of Vrachasi, around the main square, there are three tavernas and a mini market for daily needs. The main square of Vrachasi , which is a few minutes’ walk from Astra House, sits close to the road and has a wide view into the valley below, through which passes the main highway between Agios Nikolaos and Heraklion. Therefore, in less than five minutes by car guests can be in the highway and travel either to Heraklion (47km) or to Aghios Nikolaos (19km)
